Here's What's Happening in Mrs. McBrady's Classroom

Feb. 12, 2018

An exciting new way to borrow books!

If you have access to an eReader or reading app, you may be interested in an app that I worked with this weekend.

There is an app called OverDrive that allows you to sign into a library of your choice.  You do need to have a library card to register.  Viking Library System is available on this app,

Once you download and register you have access to their electronic books and audio books.  You may borrow these electronic and audio books just like you do a library book.  The default is 2 weeks for an electronic book and 3 weeks for an audio book.

After you borrow a book, you click on a link which takes you to Amazon to download your choice.  You may return it when you are completed or it simply disappears from your devise after the time is up.

I found a great deal of children's literature on the bookshelf and they are all available to read completely free.  However, this isn't just for children.  I borrowed a brand new release and put myself on the waiting list for several other new releases.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Prime Reading

If you have an Amazon Prime account you also have access to Prime Reading through Amazon.  This is a benefit of your account which allows you to borrow from a select group of books.  The children's selection is not amazing, but there are a few.

You may borrow up to 10 books at a time, completely free and for as long as you like.  You simply return them when you are done, and you can continue to read books from their selection.

There are a few audio books, but not many.  The selections do change about monthly.

I also ask for an adult to sign the practice sheets, Students need immediate feedback.  If your student is not bringing home practice sheets, fluency has been demonstrated.
